ARLAN Landscape Architects had the pleasure of joining the jury for the 2019 Indonesia Landscape Design Competition (ILDSC).
The theme of the ILDSC was “Disaster Mitigation” and showcased talents students spread across Indonesia. Our founder, Ray Agung, noted that “…it was such an experience to see what these innovative, new professionals are coming up with!”
If you’re not familiar with the ILDSC, it’s a bi-annual event organised by Himaskap IPB (Student Association of Landscape Architecture IPB). It’s a national scale competition with entries from all over Indonesia. The ILDSC 2019 consisted of twenty-two teams from various universities and polytechnic campuses. Participants were free to choose the location or site of their design to be entered into the competition. The competition was quite fierce, beginning back in June 2019 with registration, voting via ILDSC Instagram, and of course open seminars and judging.
The final judging and highlights of ILDSC was held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at GMSK Auditorium, IPB University, Indonesia.
Here was the rundown:
The even began with a seminar entitled “Indonesia in Emergency: Disaster Mitigation for Sustainable Development” by Dian Here Sofiyan, ST, MT, a professional landscape architect from DHS Studio. Afterwards, the participants had the chance to present their work to the judges and hopefully move on to the final five contestants.
The jury had the difficult task of assessing each participants work. The well-respected panel of judges included:
Dewi Rezalini Anwar, SP, M.Ades (Lecturer of Landscape Architecture of IPB),
Dr. Ir. Siti Nurisjah, MSLA (General Chairman of the Indonesian Landscape Architect Association),
Dr. Yonvitner, S.Pi, M.Si (Head of the IPB Disaster Study Center)
Rizky Rahadian Ramdhani, SP, IALI (Director of RIRE Landscape Studio),
Ray Agung Sucika Pratama, SP (Founder of ARLAN Landscape Architects)
The final standing teams from this years ILDSC were Team 024 from Podomoro University as the first winner, Team 023 from Indonesia University of Education (UPI) and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) as second prize and favorite champion, Team 012 from IPB University as third prize, Team 007 IPB University as 4th best nominees, and Team 003 from IPB University as 5th best nominees.
We here at ARLAN Landscape Architects want to thank the ILDSC for inviting us to participate in this great display of talent across Indonesia. As a design studio that aims to enhance and protect the beauty of Indonesia green-space, we were thrilled to learn from the next batch of talented designers.
Congratulations to the winners! We can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
